Membership in the Balmoral Homeowners Association is restricted to residents of Balmoral. All Balmoral homeowners are cordially invited to join the association. The association is run by a volunteer Board of Directors that is comprised of our neighbours. They are elected each year during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is held in October-November. All members are invited to run for election. The Board of Directors is assisted by other volunteers who participate on various committees and help organize community activities.
Balmoral is where we live, where our children grow up and play, and where we spend most of our time. Through the BHA we are able to build community, build spirit, and ensure that we live in a warm and caring neighbourhood. In a large urban centre like Toronto, safety and security are always a nagging concern. By being involved in the community and knowing our neighbours, we are able to keep watch over each other.
Our house is probably our largest investment. Investment protection and growth are always at the back of our minds. A well kept neighbourhood and a strong community spirit help make neighbourhoods desirable and sought after. They help grow property values. Balmoral has large tracts of undeveloped land to the west of it - the City of Toronto lands across Wilson Heights, Downsview Park, and the urban intensification around Sheppard West subway station. United in a strong homeowners’ association, we are able to ensure that our interests are considered and protected in local development plans; alone we are powerless.
Since its rebirth in 2003, the BHA has been recognized by the City of Toronto as the voice of Balmoral homeowners. As we face the challenges of development of vacant lands around us, It is vitally important that all residents of Balmoral join together in the homeowners association to ensure that this development is in harmony with our values and lifestyles. We all must carry our fair share of the weight of keeping Balmoral vibrant, healthy, warm and a caring community.
